“I made this work of poetry and collage on my body to immerse, connect and integrate myself back into my family and my heritage. My mother’s hometown of Kimberly in South Africa has been hit hard by the Corona virus. The grief has been immense. I have felt so far away and so helpless, Shelter has given me the opportunity to reflect through my craft.
My series of digital collages with words is a response to feeling so far from South Africa during the Corona virus crisis. In order to lift myself and make sense of it all I reconnect with my body, the roadmap of my heritage. My body, my mother, my sisters and my heritage- are my shelter”
