Mapping Melbourne: Microcosm

December 5, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Microcosm – a cry of pain and rage from nature, wailing at environmental destruction, greed, displacement and consumerism. For 18 years, Indonesian performance collective Mainteater has been collaborating across Australia and Indonesia. Microcosm will see Mainteater artists, including Bandung based actress Heliana Sinaga, and Melbourne locals Jodee Mundy and Sandra Fiona Long, bring to life some of the powerful poems from cult figure Godi Suwarna’s epic work Urat Jagat (Veins of the Universe). An intimate, short, and intense chorus of voice, sound and image.

Performing artists: Heliana Sinaga, Jodee Mundy, Sandra Fiona Long (Director), Wawan Sofwan
Sound creation: Mal Webb
Lighting: Bec Etchell

Sat 5 Dec, 3pm–5pm (8 sessions; 15min each)
State Library Victoria (meet at foyer)

Microcosm is part of Mapping Melbourne 2015, a four day showcase of independent contemporary artists exploring the theme of Asia across art, craftivism, dance, live art, multimedia, music, performance and theatre from 2-5 December 2015 across the City of Melbourne. #mappingmelbourne
