Equity Planning in Culture

Australia’s diversity is incontestable. Yet diverse Australians are not equitably represented in our creative industries.

MAV’s Equity Planning in Culture (EPiC) training program takes a critical approach to addressing legacies of institutional and structural discrimination of individuals and communities of colour in the arts.

  • EPiC focuses on challenging practices that marginalize people of colour as artists, arts workers and as audiences within the Australian cultural landscape.
  • EPiC is a cultural equity approach to planning and change-making that recognises the abundant assets of our diverse communities.
  • EPiC underscores the critical importance of diversity to transform the core infrastructure of cultural organisations, enabling them to achieve relevance, sustainability and plurality.
  • EPiC is for leaders who are committed to enduring change that responds to the contemporary human rights challenges we currently face.

The training program has been designed from a comprehensive international review of the literature on cultural equity, inclusion, evidence for strategies and best practice examples.
